It will highlight the personal story of a woman in the trades—a mother, Red Seal Motorcycle Mechanic, and instructor at BCIT—illustrating how TradeUpBC supports diversity, inclusion, and career advancement for tradespeople in BC.

3:30 PM — Networking and Women ~ Building Lasting Relationships for Fun & Profit

This interactive presentation explores women’s networking—how it differs from traditional approaches, its benefits beyond business, and where it’s available in the Lower Mainland. It includes guidance on structuring an elevator pitch that fosters friendships, connections, business relationships, and collaborations. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice their pitches with others and, for those feeling bold, share with the larger group.

Dr. Shahana is a family physician with over a decade of clinical experience. Now she is giving back to audiences across the nation with her signature keynotes based on her upcoming Mel Robbins endorsed book “Feel Better”. Feel Better takes the reader and audience through the 4A technique – by optimizing our mental and emotional health and providing the audience with the clarity they need and tools they can utilize immediately.

What if the person you’ve been seeking is you? My goal is to shift the narrative and, as a photographer, create images that celebrate women as they are, right now.

3:00 PM — Sandpaper Sex and Leaky Bladders

We are told that light bladder leakage is ‘just part of being a woman’ or to ‘have a glass of wine to help with painful sex’. This is dismissive and inaccurate and we deserve truth and respect for our intimate wellbeing. As women, we are are misinformed and fed disempowering messages about pelvic health and many believe that medications or surgery are the only fix. Drugs and surgery are options that can be considered but there is so much that is within our control that can help us prevent and overcome pelvic floor challenges like leaky bladders, sandpaper sex and chronic back pain. Learn what the pelvic floor is, what the more common symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction are and most importantly what you can do about it….and no it isn’t ‘go home and do your kegels’.

We will cover the foundation of emotional intelligence and the key pillars which support our self awareness, choice and direction, and see how emotional intelligence can enhance both personal and professional relationships. Attendees will identify how to begin to be more present and connected to themselves and others.

Jenelle Brewer is an indigenous author that will speak to the effects of childhood abuse, addiction, and recovery. Jenelle is a recovery human trafficking survivor, and a recovering heroin addict since 1999. Her story is one of hope, sharing the tools she has uses to overcome the emotional challenges of being a survivor while building a successful career and having the sole responsibility of raising her two children since they were toddlers. Today, Jenelle is a successful project manager, author, and sits on a corporate board and has a passion for volunteerism.
